Bugatti mulling over FOUR NEW MODELS, “GALIBIER SALOON” favored by CEO

Bugatti Mulling Over Four New Models, Galibier Saloon Favored By CEO
Thought the Galibier was long gone? Well think again as speculation suggests the ultra-luxury sedan may in fact see the light of day as Bugatti tries to secure its future in the aftermath of the diesel emissions scandal that shook the Volkswagen Group to its core.

It has been revealed that the company’s chief executive Wolfgang Durheimer is pondering four different proposals for the company, which could see it launch either the Galibier, a high-end SUV, an all-electric luxury car or a supercar to slot below the Chiron.

Durheimer has made no secret of the fact that he favors the Galibier as it was originally approved for production in 2011 during Durheimer’s original stint with the company. When the executive moved to Audi in 2013 however, his replacement pulled the pin on the project and decided to focus on the Chiron.

Now that Durheimer is back at the helm of Bugatti and Bentley he admits, according to Drive, that the Galibier is being reconsidered: “My heart continues to beat for this car”, he said, “because we had some revolutionary approaches that no one to date has yet dared to place into production.”

Originally, the Galibier was due to use the same engine as the Veyron. Now that the Chiron has been released, it seems inevitable that its 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 would be utilized for a potential production-spec luxury sedan. Power however, would probably be reduced from the existing 1500 hp.
