The MYLAND experience offers adventure-seekers in the UAE a unique desert experience with hot air balloons and never-before-seen falconry demonstrations.
A Land Rover picks you up and takes you to the ballooning take-off site near Sky Dive Dubai on Dubai-Al Ain Road.
Balloon Adventures Dubai then gives you safety instructions and you hop on the balloon. We joined the Land Rover balloon, which accommodated eight people, a captain and a falcon – Pikachu – with its trainer.
We were the first to take off and seeing the other balloons from up above was fascinating.
The desert from a hot-air balloon is beautiful and it’s a very calming experience.
Our balloon even had a proposal, at 2600ft, where the man went down on his knees to ask for his girlfriend’s hand in marriage. The woman was surprised, shocked and happy. It’s not every day that you get to go in a hot-air balloon and on top of that see a proposal mid-air.
To top this, once we reached 4000ft, Pikachu was ready to take flight. The trainer opened the falcon’s mask, gave it something to eat and let it fly.
To see the falcon flying at that height, with other balloons as a backdrop, left us in awe.
The falcon then came back to the balloon and we had a photo op with Pikachu.
The entire balloon ride lasted 70 minutes, where we experienced some low flying, climbing in altitude, falconry and a marriage proposal.
Post landing we were taken for a gourmet breakfast at HH Sheikh Butti bin Juma Al Maktoum’s private property.
The camp, food and the ride were great and added to the overall MYLAND experience.
The experience didn’t end there. We were then taken back to the road in a vintage Land Rover through the desert, where the new premium Land Rover stood to take us home.
