5 SIGNS THAT YOUR CAR NEEDS SERVICING!

Don’t wait for your car to break down on the road!
It is common sense that drivers need to service their car on a regular basis. However, many wait until the very last minute – say, when the car completely gives out – before showing it any care.
Take note of these five signs that your car is calling for help, to prevent a small problem from becoming a big one.

1. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT
You had better get your car to the garage or workshop for a service as soon as possible when the yellow “check engine” light appears on your dashboard. This light could indicate a range of engine problems.
The service light – the one in the shape of a spanner – comes on when your next service is due. Normally, you don’t need to worry too much about it but you’d better not ignore it for too long.
2. STRANGE NOISES
Unfamiliar noises from your car may indicate anything from a minor problem to a serious one. Here are some sounds that are worth your attention:
• WHINING FROM UNDER THE BONNET is usually caused by a loose belt. Even worse, the engine could suffer major damage if it breaks while you‘re driving.
• A hole or crack in your exhaust can cause A LOUDER-THAN-USUAL EXHAUST NOISE. It is not difficult to fix but there’s a risk that your exhaust pipe could fall off.
• A SCRAPING SOUND OF METAL-ON-METAL could be caused by a broken part scraping on something else. Locate and fix the problem as soon as possible or it will cause extra damage to both parts.

3. SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE BONNET
White smoke is usually the result of overheating and problems with the radiator. Stop your car and get it checked out ASAP to avoid any immediate danger.
Burning oil emits blue-coloured smoke and could burn a hole in your wallet if left unfixed. Excessive smoke from the exhaust could also signal an oil leak.

4. VIBRATING OR PULLING WHEN BRAKING
This could be due to a range of problems, includes worn brake discs or pads, suspension or steering issues or worn tyres. The conclusion is it’s not safe to drive like this. So, get your car serviced as soon as possible.

5. REDUCED RIDE COMFORT
If you find that speed bumps are uncomfortable, your car is riding low or you can hear your tyres scraping on the wheel arch, it’s time to get it checked out. Any of these symptoms could signal an issue with the car’s suspension.
