At the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Volvo revealed that it is developing intelligent, high bandwidth, streaming capabilities with its technology partner, Ericsson, that will ensure drivers and passengers get the most out of their time travelling in an autonomous Volvo.

Imagine a highway full of autonomous cars with their occupants sitting back watching their favourite TV shows in high definition. Meet Model X
Model X is the safest, fastest and most capable sport utility vehicle in history. With all-wheel drive and a 100 kWh battery providing 289 miles of range, Model X has ample seating for seven adults and all of their gear. And it’s ludicrously fast, accelerating from zero to 60 miles per hour in as quick as 2.9 seconds.
Model X is the SUV uncompromised. Model X is designed with safety as the first priority. The floor-mounted battery lowers the center of gravity so that the risk of rollover is about half that of any vehicle in its class. The battery structure strengthens Model X against side impact intrusions. And without a gasoline engine, the large front trunk acts as a giant impact-absorbing crumple zone. Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet conducted crash testing on Model X, Tesla’s own internally conducted crash testing indicates that Model X should be the first SUV to receive the highest safety rating in every category.

- Chevrolet’s FNR

GM has taken the wraps off the Chevrolet FNR, an autonomous electric vehicle concept designed in Shanghai by the company’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center (PATAC). It’s intended as a showcase and trial balloon for some of the automaker’s current research and upcoming tech, but it’s the styling above all that grabs you. The FNR looks like a Hot Wheels car for The Matrix. It’s mostly glass capsule, with crystal laser headlights and taillights, dual swing “dragonfly” doors, and magnetic hubless wheel electric motors.
Sit inside it, and behold the incredible wall-to-wall, entirely virtual dashboard beneath the almost-horizontal windshield. You can’t start the car without it recognizing your eye’s iris. At that point, you can take advantage of the car’s various sensors and roof-mounted radar, which map the surrounding environment and help determine the best route to your destination, along with help from an artificially intelligent personal assistant.
